Tuition fee payments can be made twice per semester, however to be imatriculated you have to make the first payment for the first semester in full.

The application fee consists of a 100 € registration fee and a 41 € payment for education documents recognition from the Academic Information centre of Latvia.

A one-time payment for students coming from outside the EU/EEA to be payed in full along with the first semester payment upon arrival. The deposit is intendend to cover possible immigration expenses and payed back upon request after graduation.
High school / secondary education (or higher)
Applicants applying for undergraduate degree studies are required to have completed their general secondary education. If an applicant will only finish his secondary education in the year of application, he may at first only receive a conditional study place offer which turns into an unconditional upon the successful presentation of the final diploma. Pre-medicine courses are not taken into consideration, and neither are bachelor’s or master’s degrees acquired before the application to the University of Latvia.

You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.
All applicants must prove their English language proficiency in a level that corresponds to B2 according to the CEFR levels.
University of Latvia accepts the following proof:
- For students from Finland – Ylioppilastutkintotodistus with Cum laude approbatur in English;
HOW WILL MY APPLICATION BE EVALUATED?
Your average application grade will be made up by your secondary education Chemistry grade, Biology grade and English grade. The better the average grade, the better your chances for being offered a study place.
Each of the grades must be at least 6 in a 10 point grading system.

The final results will be available approximately two weeks after the final deadline – in mid-July.
We are not able to provide official results before that because the competition can be influenced by each new application we receive, therefore the preliminary results are not to be considered final.

During the studies students learn the science and methods of medicine based on human morphology (structure), functions (physiology), psychology, basic clinical practice (anamnesis, overall objective examination and interpretation of results, manipulation competence), obtains knowledge on health promotion and disease prevention in the context of family and society. After successful completion of the programme graduates may enter residency and PhD studies.
The programme corresponds to EU standards and professional requirements set for MDs. The obtained degree is in line with European labor market requirements (part of European comparative degree system) and allows free movement within Europe.
The full – time degree programme covers six academic years. Classes are mainly from 8.30am till 6pm in the working days.
After successful completion of the programme graduates work in the field of health care, medical firms, governmental institutions. Graduates may also work in hospitals or health centre under the supervision of a certified Doctor.
