Application fee | €141 one-time The application fee consists of a 100 € registration fee and a 41 € payment for education documents recognition from the Academic Information centre of Latvia. Application fee is non-refundable. Payment of application fee and diploma recognition fee should be paid only after receiving invoice, and must be paid ONLY till deadline of invoice, if for any reason you couldn’t pay fee’s till deadline please contact with admission coordinator. |
Deposit | €500 one-time A one-time payment for students coming from outside the EU/EEA to be paid in full along with the full year tuition fee payable upon arrival. The deposit is intended to cover possible immigration expenses and paid back upon request after graduation. |
Entry qualification | High school / secondary education (or higher) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree studies are required to have completed their secondary/high school education. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Latvian. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Applicants must upload education documents in original language, as well as translations into English. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. Please note that the University of Latvia is in the process of accreditation of a new study programme “English, European Languages and Business Studies” (with subprogrammes: “English Language”, “English-Scandinavian Languages”, “European Languages and Business Studies”). This programme will be offered instead of the programme “Modern Language and Business Studies”. Study agreements will be concluded in the programme “English, European Languages and Business Studies after the license is received in May/June 2021. In future the part-time programme will cover 4 academic years. |

Language requirements | English Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests: If your previous studies have been obtained in English but in the country where English is not native language, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (secondary school, etc.) where is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills. Applicants who have obtained previous education in English in one of the bellow listed countries do not need to provide separate language proficiency: Internationally recognized foreign language certificate does not have to be presented if the foreigner has acquired secondary education in a country of the EU and the EEA or in the Swiss Confederation and in his secondary education certificate is included an assessment of foreign language skills, which are comparable to at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). |

Overview
The programme is interdisciplinary and is designed to prepare graduates for international careers in enterprises and organizations where knowledge of several languages and business is required. The programme offers French, Spanish, German, Swedish and Norwegian. The programme is interdisciplinary and is designed to prepare graduates for international careers in enterprises and organisations where knowledge of several languages and business is required. The programme offers such courses as Business Communication, English Grammar, Applied Text Translation: Theory and Practice, Text Analysis, EU and Project Management Discourse, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics a.o. Cultural studies are provided through such courses as Intercultural Communication, Intercultural Business Relations, business studies through the basic management courses such as Management Theory, Entrepreneurship, Decision Making Methods, Behaviour Economics. Upon graduation, students are able to continue education in Master degree programmes and second level professional study programmes.
Career opportunities
The programme prepares graduates for different careers in the public and private sector in the local and international labour market where integration of the knowledge of several languages and the knowledge of business is required. Programme graduates may work as manager’s assistants, assistants in administration, translators and in other positions or start their own business.
