Deposit | €500 one-time A one-time payment for students coming from third countries outside the EU/EEA is to be paid in full together with the full-year tuition fee payable upon arrival. The deposit is intended for coverage of possible immigration expenses and paid back upon request after graduation. |
Entry qualification | High school / secondary education (or higher) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree studies are required to have completed their secondary /high school education. Grades in Mathematics and Physics must be no less than 6 (or “almost good”) in a 10 point grading system. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Applicants must upload education documents in original language, as well as translations into English. Diplomas and transcripts issued outside EU must be legalized with a legalization stamp or Apostille. Language requirements | English Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests:
If your previous studies have been obtained in English but in the country where English is not native language, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (secondary school, etc.) where is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills. If you do not have any chance to take the English language test, the University of Latvia offers the option of taking an online English test. If you would like to take the test please write to gunita.eke@lu.lv Applicants who have obtained previous education in English in one of the bellow listed countries do not need to provide separate language proficiency: Internationally recognized foreign language certificate does not have to be presented if the foreigner has acquired secondary education in a country of the EU and the EEA or in the Swiss Confederation and in his secondary education certificate is included an assessment of foreign language skills, which are comparable to at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). |

Overview
The study programme is unique in the Baltic States. Professional Bachelor’s study programme “Industrial engineering and Management” prepares highly qualified, competitive and competent experts. Successful completion of the programme results in Professional Bachelor’s degree in Industrial engineering management and professional qualification of “Industrial Management Engineer”. The study courses are taught by a team of qualified, well-motivated and experienced academic personnel. Modern and creative study process allows the students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in inter-field study programme, which combines engineering sciences, management sciences and natural sciences courses. During engineering studies, the students gain understanding of system management principles in industrial engineering and practical skills in provision and improvement of technical processes of manufacturing. The management science courses provide students with knowledge on management principles and human resources management, entrepreneurship organization, management of innovations and efficiency, as well as performance of necessary economic calculations. The students learn principles of organization performance quality and efficiency, which include LEAN philosophy (prudent management methods) and methods that are used by the world’s leading industrial companies. The acquired knowledge will allow the programme alumni – system management engineer – to understand functionality of industrial company system and to provide strategically justified decision making.

The graduates of the professional Bachelor’s programme “Industrial engineering” are able to work as the managers of the highest level and system management engineers in a company of any industry. The acquired knowledge allows to understate and regulate technological processes of the company, as well as to manage companies and structural departments of organizations.
